O Ship That Travellest

Saigelyn Green

“As the first choral piece I've written, I struggled with starting it. I knew I wanted to play around with the meter, and so in many places, there is a measure of 6/8 meter and a measure of 3/4 meter, and so on and so forth, giving each measure the same amount of time, but a different feeling. As for the lyrics, they come from the poem "O Ship, Ship, Ship" by Arthur Hugh Clough. “O Ship That Travellest” is representative of the sea, in the sense that it's uneven, and can be very intense at times, but the water will always be constantly moving in some sort of way, no matter what.”
