Let Lay I

Composer Name
Eleanor Freebern
Description

This is a piece for SATB choir and brass, both of which are a less familiar medium than strings for me. The inspiration for this piece was Tony Diterlizzi's book, "The Search for Wondla" which is a vaguely post-apocalytpic world with unfamiliar larger-than-life creatures and fauna. As I've worked on it, it's become a piece that explores the relationship between traditional song and orchestra that often appears in film.

African Soundscapes

Composer Name
Jonathan Kafumbe
Description

This composition was based on a traditional African melody I heard my father play on the marimba. I was also inspired by the chord changes and melody to the song Impressions by John Coltrane. I combined both melodies with the chord changes to Impressions to create a colorful unique song with a groovy rhythm. Later in the song, the chords shift and change to outline the melody better.

Brass quintet

Composer Name
Hawkley Mitchell
Description

Example brass quintet. An idea. #2 is slower(80, not 110), but I think I could incorporate some of #1's themes into #2. #2 is just a second idea. #3 is in a different direction, not as dark, but it keeps the chords. The tempo is also 80. Added a bunch to #2.

Cycle of Revelations

Composer Name
Alexander Maroney
Description

I wrote this piece earlier this year and submitted it to colleges as a part of my portfolio. It's a three movement piece, though I was thinking that for this event to only use the first. I would also want to rewrite the ending, as I don't think it really fits without the rest of the piece, though I'm open to suggestions. I uploaded a link to the audio in the "Noteflight URL" box as the file was too large to upload regularly.

Walk through the Park

Composer Name
Luc Slothouwer
Description

I'm creating a 3 movement piece, and I just finished the first piece. It accompanies a painting of two little children running through a lush green park, and I want to show the innocence and sense of exploration that they're feeling. I made the piece in Ableton with some plug-ins, I have a lot of experience with Ableton but I would really love to hear some feedback :)

house beet

Composer Name
callan
Description

Made this at lunch one day, didn't have time to mix well but thought it was tough. First time making a house type beat so just making sure i even did that right. Let me know if I'm tone deaf! Used lots of basic effects like reverb, compression, the fruity limiter, and delay, but also some fancy ones like portal (there are more but I forget them). Trying to find vocal samples to chop for these things is a pain too. Oh I also use FL studio. I also had to convert from wav. to mp3 with a crappy online thingy so it might sound bad because of that.
