Proletarian Pandemic & Bourgeois Bandemic

Description

The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have created many new problems, including a national and global economic recession, record unemployment numbers, and a loss of health insurance for many newly unemployed people. However, the only new problem the pandemic has brought is the virus itself—the consequences of the coronavirus only exacerbated problems that have been present for the working class since the founding of the country. Low wages, high living costs, and health insurance tied to employment have been problems present for decades that have only been made much worse by the economic conditions created by the pandemic. While all of these problems are ravaging the working class (the proletariat), the upper class (the bourgeoisie) has been gaining an immense amount of wealth. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the wealth of America's billionaires has grown by hundreds of billions of dollars. "Bands" is a slang term for money, since people and banks often use bands to hold together large stacks of cash. This piece contrasts how the proletariat have been suffering from this pandemic, while the bourgeoisie have been increasing their wealth, so they are essentially in a "band-emic."

Wake Up Call

Description

A piece which I originally wrote for SATB acapella but adapted to replace the SAB voices with two trumpets, a trombone, and a piano part. This piece is about how denial and ignorance, despite seeming to ease pain, must be removed in order to experience life. I wrote this piece a few months after I suffered a great loss in my family, so it is in a way autobiographical. The piece features a solo tenor voice. I wanted particularly the lyrics to be relatable for everyone who has experienced such a loss and to show my process of recovery.
I hope you enjoy the song!

Note: As I don't have Noteflight Premium, the volume for the Noteflight piece is quite inaccurate; at many times the "trumpets" are much louder than they would be in real life.

I Can't Go On

Description

I am aiming to write a ballad for one of the two musicals that my brother and I are currently working on. I want to use all of the instruments, in order to get both the brassy tones, and four vocalists. This ballad is going to be a quartet between four of the six primaries in the musical at a climactic moment in Act 2.

Coolest Camel in the Desert

Description

It is a fact that there is a single camel that is the coolest camel out of all of the camels in the desert. All of the other camels look at that camel and say, "Wow, he's so chill," and all of the cameleers who ride that camel say, "Wow, I had no idea a camel could be so cool." This is the theme song for that camel.

Untitled

Description

This is just the beginning - an idea, really - of my Opus 34 composition. No feedback necessary at this point - I'll try to post more music soon. However, I expect the piece to be very similar for the majority, likely with a major section in the middle.
